Concord is about 7 miles south of downtown Kannapolis. The drive is short. Most Kannapolis criminal court records will be at this courthouse.

Kannapolis Cases in Rowan County

Part of Kannapolis extends into Rowan County. If an arrest occurs in that area, the case may go through Rowan County courts. The Rowan County Clerk of Superior Court is at 210 N. Main Street in Salisbury. The phone number is (704) 797-3000. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Search Kannapolis Criminal Court Records

The NC eCourts Portal covers both Cabarrus County and Rowan County. It is free and requires no account. Search by name, case number, or citation. You can view charges, dates, and case status from any device.

At the Cabarrus County courthouse in Concord, self-service terminals let you search for free. Staff can pull paper files. Copies cost $2.00 for the first page and $0.25 per page after. Certified copies are $3.00 each.

For a certified criminal record check, fill out Form AOC-CR-314. The form is available on the NC Courts website. Submit it with $25 to the clerk. You can do this at Cabarrus County, Rowan County, or both.

The NC State Bureau of Investigation keeps the central criminal records repository for the state. A fingerprint-based state check costs $14. A national FBI check costs $18. These searches are more thorough than name-only court lookups.

The NC Department of Adult Correction has an offender search for state inmates and people on probation or parole. It does not cover the Cabarrus County jail. Data in this system goes back to 1972.

Restricted Criminal Records in Kannapolis

Some Kannapolis criminal court records are not open to the public. Juvenile cases are sealed under N.C.G.S. 7B-3000. Expunged records are fully removed. Grand jury proceedings are secret under G.S. 15A-623. Active investigation files are exempt from public access under G.S. 132-1.4.
